Pamela Young, M.S.

Ms. Young is a licensed Psychological Associate who received her BA in Psychology from UNC at Greensboro and her Advanced Masters Degree in School Psychology from North Carolina State University. Her career spans 32 years of services as a school psychologist. Ms Young began her career providing comprehensive school psychological services to the students, families, and educators of Johnston County Schools. In addition to providing direct services to students and families Ms Young also served as the Lead Psychologist in Johnston County for nine years.

Ms Young joined the staff of Wake County Public Schools in 1993 and served as a school-based staff psychologist and as the psychologist for the Academically Gifted program.

Ms Young served as the only psychologist for Wake County Schools Academically Gifted Program for 17 years. She has been instrumental in developing the identification process for AG identification in WCPSS. Ms Young provided yearly training to all AG teachers to support appropriate interpretation of test scores. She also provided yearly training to new AG teachers to support alternative assessments for students referred to the AG program to assure best assessment practices for all referred students. Ms. Young has extensive experience in assessing students who are twice exceptional, specifically Academically Gifted students who have exceptionalities such as Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism (Asperger’s Syndrome).
